Associate Director: Outreach and Tech Transfer - Patricia Weaver

Patricia Weaver is Associate Director of Outreach and Technology Transfer at
the KU Transportation Research Institute. Outreach is critical to achieve a
mission of providing a cohesive organizational framework that permits faculty,
students, and partners to focus on current and future transportation-related
research. As Associate Director for Outreach, Ms. Weaver is responsible for
developing systems that facilitate that exchange to meet outreach goals of TRI
including research and development partnerships with transportation-related
organizations, enhanced undergraduate and graduate educational programs to
support transportation workforce development, and transportation technology
development which serves and assists transportation-related industries and
government agencies and contributes to the economic growth of the State.
Ms. Weaver also is Executive Director and Research Scientist at the Kansas
University Transportation Center where she has worked since 1982. Ms. Weaver
has worked extensively with rural and small urban transit systems and has
conducted research in the area of transit demand analysis and system planning.
Her primary responsibilities at the University of Kansas include research,
training and technical assistance to rural programs. Ms. Weaver has managed a
number of projects funded by the Federal Transit Administration, the Federal
Highway Administration, State DOTs, and local governments.
She is program manager for the Kansas Rural Transit Assistance Program (RTAP),
funded by the Federal Transit Administration since 1987 and program manager for
the Kansas Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), funded by the Federal
Highway Administration since 1983. She has provided consulting services to other
states and transit operators around the country.
She recently completed a term as Chair and member of the National RTAP Review Board;
she's a member of the Transportation Research Board, the TRB Committee on Rural and
Intercity Bus Transportation and chair of the 18th National Conference on Rural
Public and Intercity Bus Transportation; has served on a number of panels with the
Transit Cooperative Research Program, and a member of numerous other professional
associations.
