The KU School of Engineering and its departments each year award more than $2 million in scholarships to entering freshmen, transfer students and continuing undergraduate students. This is in addition to offers from the university. Much of that support is made possible through generous donations from successful alumni and friends of the school who want to ensure others have access to the same great opportunities they had here. All students are strongly encouraged to fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to ensure they are considered for all scholarship dollars for which they are eligible.
All students applying for admission to the School of Engineering will be considered for scholarships provided they:
No additional forms need to be submitted unless applying for either the SELF Fellowship or the FIRST Robotics scholarship, see below.
Prospective engineering students who are offered scholarships will receive a letter detailing their total scholarship package from the university, School of Engineering and department. The combined scholarship letter documents the student's award for the coming academic year as well as the projected amount over four years provided the student meets the requirements for maintaining their scholarship funding.
The Engineering Scholarship Committee gives priority consideration to students who meet or exceed these ACT/SAT scores with at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA.

If ACT/SAT are taken more than once, the highest scores will be used for scholarship consideration. The December test date is the last possible date to receive scores before the Dec. 1st scholarship application deadline.
All grade point averages are converted to a 4.0 scale so every prospective student has the same opportunity for consideration. The committee considers Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes individually, as necessary.
Students transferring to KU from U.S. colleges and universities are automatically considered for engineering scholarships provided they:

Students transferring to the School of Engineering from within KU are not considered for transfer scholarships. Please refer to the information for upperclassmen scholarship opportunities.
The University of Kansas School of Engineering is proud to partner with FIRST to offer a number of merit based scholarships for participants in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) or the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). High-school seniors who have participated on a FIRST team and are pursuing an engineering or computer science degree at KU may apply for this scholarship. Qualifying FIRST participants must have a minimum Math ACT score of 28 (or SAT equivalent) and a 3.5 unweighted high school GPA in order to be eligible for the scholarship. Download the application.
Incoming freshmen have an opportunity to take part in a unique 4-year financial and professional enrichment program designed to develop engineering and computer science graduates into leaders in business and industry. The Self Engineering Leadership Fellows Program targets undergraduate students with a passion for technology and a track record of achievement and involvement. Students must apply to the program, however the academic requirements to be considered for the program are more accommodating.
